WHY ME

Training:

I hold a Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.  My training has provided me with a strong ability to engage the biblical text and to provide solid exegetical preaching.  It has also helped to develop an ability to think theologically about a variety of topics, and it has provided the tools necessary to support my growing comfort and ability to engage in pastoral counseling, missiology, and leadership development.

Along with this academic training I have spent the last three years giving administrative oversight to three academic programs at Nashotah House Theological Seminary.  This experience prepares me to plan, organize, and implement strategic plans for our different programs. I have also gained valuable skills through my planning and leading of various committee and strategic planning meetings at The House.

 Gifting:

My temperament and leadership style uniquely positions me to lead a church plant.  I find my greatest energy when I am functioning as a visionary.  I also find great pleasure when I can be a person who is in a position to influence people to work towards a common end.  Both of these qualities will be important as we work to fund this church and to recruit and train the leadership.  Along with these visionary qualities I am also a leader who is driven by results.  With a clear strategy I will be the leader pushing us along to continue the work that God has called us to.

 Desire:

“The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.”   This quote summarizes things well.  As I have prepared this ministry plan, a new energy has been born in me.  There is a deep excitement and godly impatience welling up in me.  I have a strong desire to be in Riverwest working to further God’s Kingdom through the planting of His church.  But this deep desire becomes a calling, as the quote says, when desire intersects with ‘the world’s deep hunger’.    Riverwest is a neighborhood crying out for the presence of a strong Gospel centered church.  I believe that God has been working and building this desire in me since 2005 and it is now that the Spirit is ‘driving us into the wilderness’ to begin this new ministry.
